Homemade Cherry Granola

Granola1I’ve always wanted to make my own granola with all of my favorite ingredients. Plus this gives me a chance to experiment and make something new!
When I grocery shop, the might product say “healthy”, “light”, low fat” etc. but when I look at the nutrition label, sugar is in the first 3 ingredients meaning it makes up most of the product. (*When a product lowers their fat, they usually increase the amount of sugar or sodium to keep the flavor). This is a big reason I like to cook at home, so I know exactly what I’m eating. This granola turned out so tasty and was very easy to make! It stays fresh for about 10 if keep in air tight container. Hope you enjoy as much as I did 🙂


Depending on how much granola you are making, you can adjust the amount of ingredients; you can add or leave out anything you want. This is a simple, fun, and tasty recipe that’s impossible to mess up.

  • 1 3/4 cup oats
  • 1 1/4 cup raw almond
  • 2/3 cup dried cherries
  • 2/3 chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup sunflower seeds
  • 3 tbsp cinnamon (forgot to include in picture)
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • drizzle in some maple syrup

1.Preheat oven at 350 F
2.Mix all dry ingredients together in a bowl.
3.Sprinkle cinnamon on top.
3.Add the honey and mix well
4.Add the syrup and mix well, then mix some more because you might have missed some dry ingredients on the bottom.
5.You do not want your mix to be dripping, just to be coated and slightly sticky. If you’re not there yet, add a little more honey and syrup until desired consistency is achieved.
6.Spread onto cookie sheet, keep mix fairly thick, do not spread out thin (it will not move while cooking) (see picture below)
7.Bake about 20min
